Designer of the hat brand SAWA VAUGHTERS, Sawa Vaughters trained under legendary milliner Stephen Jones.
Committed to Made in Japan craftsmanship, each piece is handcrafted with care, warmth, and a sense of intimacy.
While pursuing innovative forms, the brand is built on the concept of drawing out individuality through gender-neutral beauty. Customers can select personalized accessories through the online shop, and at special events held at select department stores and concept-shops, fully customized one-of-a-kind pieces are also available.
In 2025, she collaborated with Dior, creating hats for the Dior Fall Collection「Japanese savoir-faire」, presented at To-ji Temple in Kyoto. The collection fused modernism with Japan’s traditional kasa hats, reinterpreting heritage forms through a contemporary lens.
SAWA VAUGHTERS also develops the “SPACE LIFE FASHION GOODS” series, aiming to contribute to the space industry.
The lineup includes space-themed items such as the T+00:00:00 (T-Plus) cap — shaped after a rocket’s trajectory — and a detachable modular system bag inspired by the life support systems used by astronauts aboard the International Space Station.
T+ has found fans among space industry professionals and organizations, and a collaboration with the manga Space Brothers has also come to life.
It is currently available for purchase on the Space Brothers official website. Under the theme “A Circle of Space Connected by T+,” space industry enthusiasts who use the product are featured on the Space Brothers site.
10% of sales are donated to UNISEC (NPO University Space Engineering Consortium), supporting the development of the next generation of space talent.
The modular bag ESM received a special award at a design competition held by U.S.-based DuPont. The model was released through outdoor brand CHUMS.
In February 2026, in collaboration with two Kyushu-based companies from Oita Prefecture — home to a spaceport — (Shobo Bosai Co., Ltd. and Sato Bosui-ten Co., Ltd.), the new ESM -Active Model- was unveiled. A crowdfunding campaign is currently live on Makuake, running until Thursday, June 11.
